Review: Elf Clarifying Pressed Powder / Elf All Over Color Stick

Heyaah! Here’s part one of three of my ELF review series. Since ELF stands for Eyes Lips Face, I decided to segment my reviews into that. And I’ll start with the FACE products that Elf generously gave me.

I got the Clarifying Pressed Powder (in Apricot Beige) and All Over Color Stick (in Pink Lemonade). Notice the tattered packaging? Hehehe someone got excited and opened ‘em up before remembering to take photos. ;)

Here’s the Clarifying Pressed Powder. It’s actually very small and compact. It also comes with a free puff. However, there’s no mirror included. And it seems that the packaging is quite fragile (made with plastic only) so handle this tiny product with care.

Here’s some information at the back of the packaging. I was surprised to know that one use of this product is for the treatment of acne!!! *ring a bell* So that’s why it’s called “clarifying”! And if you can read the directions, it says:

Cleanse the skin thoroughly before applying medication. Cover the entire affected area with a then layer one to three times daily. Because excessive drying of the skin may occur, start with one application daily, then gradually increase to two or three times daily if needed or as directed by doctor. If bothersome dryness or peeling occurs, reduce application to once a day or every other day.

After reading the directions, I got curious ‘cause it refers to the product as “medication”. WOOAH! Anything to treat those pesky blemishes then I’m sold!

Here’s a before (left) and after (right) picture of yours truly, taken with natural lighting and no flash! (OHMAYGAD. I can’t believe I’m showing you all my bare face as seen in the left photo… no concealer, bb cream, foundation, etc. Just my trusty Mac lipstick!). On the right photo is the “after” shot, with only the Clarifying Pressed Powder on my face, plus again my MAC lippy. See the difference? My face instantly looks fresh, flawless, and oil free! It also evens out my complexion. (Ansabe ng photoshop? No edits ‘yan ha).

One catch though. The first time I applied it, my face felt itchy. Good thing I didn’t have pimples breakout though. And several tries afterwards, it seems my face became more “hiyang” with this product. As for its product claim to treating acne, I cannot prove that just yet ‘cause it didn’t state for how long you have to use the product to see visible results. Right now I’m just happy it makes my face flawless. :)

Next product is this All Over Color Stick (in Pink Lemonade), which actually reminds me of those cheek and tint combo products. But with this one, you can also use it on your EYES!!! True to its name nga, all over color talaga!

It comes in this twist type of packaging. It may seem unhygienic to some, so I suggest using your preferred brush. But I want to get dirty (and I’m lazy) so I usually just use my fingers to apply this. I notice that the writings on the tube started to fade after a while. But then again, I have to remind myself that you can’t expect much from the packaging of a super affordable product.

Some product info. By the way, YAY to no animal testing, way to go ELF!

All Over Color Stick on my eyes, lips and cheeks (on both photos), taken with natural lighting and no flash. Parang may amats lang sa right pic. TROLOLOLOL. But as you can see, with just one product, it can make your face all made up already!!! I had pimples after using this on my cheeks though. Boohoo! (I don’t usually wear blush so, maybe my cheeks suddenly got irritated??). But I love it on my eyes and lips, so maybe I’ll skip using this on my cheeks next time. It also has this sweet pink lemonade scent! Yum!

Both products have staying power of about 4 hours. This is pretty impressive for me because I have oily face! If you have sensitive skin, I suggest skip using the All Over Color Stick on your cheeks.

Have you tried any of the two products? Thoughts? Any questions or clarifications? Just ask or comment away!
