Water Marble Nail Art Tutorial

Lovely Wednesday, everyone!!! If you’re following me on Twitter (@hazelsalcedo), then you probably saw me tweet this photo below of my water marble nails a few days ago. Yes yes, it’s not the prettiest design, I know! And I’m sure you can come up with more interesting patterns/designs than mine, HAHA! It was my first attempt and I just decided to take a plunge and try this whole water marble thing that seems to be the trend these days. I bet you’re curious as well on how to do this, huh?  Well you’re in luck because I’m sharing you how I did it. :D

You will need to apply petroleum jelly (or hand lotion) so cleaning up will be a breeze after dipping your fingers in step 4. Make sure you apply even at the back of your fingers. Tip: Dip your fingers into the water bowl first to see the depth and then apply petroleum jelly up to that area only.

Using the brush of your nail polish, drop a small amount of color into the water bowl. Do alternately with the other colors. It’s up to you how many colors you’ll use and how many layers you want.

Here’s the fun part… the twirling and swirling! Make sure you do this part swiftly because the nail polish tends to dry up fast. Dip your finger and wait for about 30 seconds before lifting it. Tip: While your finger is dipped, you can blow into it and use a paperclip/toothpick to clean off the excess pattern before lifting your finger.

And ta-daah! Here’s how it should look like. Quite messy!! Hahahaha! Of course, don’t forget to clean the area around your nails with nail polish remover.

This can be time consuming because you have to repeat steps 2 to 4 ten times. And sometimes the patterns do not look the same on every fingernails… but I guess that’s the beauty of it all. Experiment is the key! Enjoy and see how your friends will react to your pretty nail art designs! :)

If you decide to do this water marble nail art, post a photo and let me see! :)
